What table size fits a set of 6 chairs?
Shop all 6-chair dining sets →
A dining set of 6 chairs generally needs a table around 180 cm long to seat everyone comfortably with room to pass dishes and pull chairs back. Rectangular tables suit this seat count best, and round tables of 150 cm or larger also work if the room has enough width. Every set on this page ships as a matched table-and-six-chairs group (a 7-piece total), so we've already checked chair height, finish and table dimensions to fit together.
Confirm exact table length and chair depth on each product page before ordering, since dimensions vary between finishes.
Household Fit Guide
Is a 6-Chair Dining Set Right for Your Household?
Six chairs cover more households than most people expect. Use this as a quick check:
Family of 4
Two spare seats for regular guests or grandparents
Couples Who Host
Enough seating for two other couples without extra chairs
Family of 6
Every seat filled at daily meals, no spares needed
Rarely seat more than four? A 5-piece setting uses less floor space. If you host larger groups often, however, step up to an 8-seat, 9-piece configuration instead.

Buying Guide
Buying Guide: Table Length, Shape and Seating Space
- Table length: Allow around 180 cm for a rectangular table seating six, or 150 cm and above for a round table.
- Room clearance: Leave at least 90 cm between the table edge and the nearest wall so chairs can pull out fully.
- Shape: Rectangular tables fit six chairs most efficiently; round tables work in wider rooms.
- Matched sets: All six chairs in a set ship with the same shape, finish and seat height, so there's no mismatch to manage.
- Chair material: Fabric and leather-look suit comfort and easy cleaning; timber suits durability and low maintenance.
- Assembly: Check each product page for included parts and assembly requirements before ordering.

WHY SHOPICA?
Quality You Can Trust
Shopica is a Sydney-based, family-owned homeware, décor and furniture store founded by Eliane El Khoury. What started as a passion for beautiful, considered interiors has grown into a trusted destination for Australians who care about how their home looks and feels. We curate cushions, floor lamps, mirrors, bedside tables, dining tables, outdoor furniture and decorative pieces chosen specifically for Australian homes. Every piece is held to the same standard we would demand for our own. We do not stock products simply because they are popular. We stock them because they are well made, beautifully designed and worth every dollar.
Our Sydney-based team understands how Australian homes are lived in. The open plan living and dining spaces that define modern Australian architecture. The need for furniture that is beautiful on the weekend and durable through the week. The importance of getting the details right, from the cushion on the sofa to the lamp beside the bed. We source every product with all of this in mind.
With Australia-wide delivery and orders dispatched within 1-3 business days from our warehouse in Sydney and personal customer support from a team that genuinely cares about your home, Shopica is here to help you create a space that feels as good as it looks. One considered piece at a time.
