Buy a Timber Dining Table Built for Australian Conditions
Solid timber moves. It expands in humid summers and contracts in dry winters, and a table that ignores this warps or cracks at the joints within a few years. The species matters more here than the finish does, since dense hardwoods like acacia and marri handle Australian humidity swings far better than softer timbers ever will. A table bought for its grain photo and not its wood type is the one that develops a gap down the centre seam by year three.
Get solid timber dining tables at Shopica from $510, in acacia, marri and oak parquet. Every order ships with tracking and a 30-day return window.

Three Timbers, Three Different Personalities
Acacia
The Everyday Workhorse
Dense and tight-grained, acacia resists the swelling that Australian humidity causes in softer species, so it stays stable through a full year of seasonal change without babying.
Marri
Native Hardwood Weight
A native Australian hardwood with real density underneath, marri resists dents from dropped cutlery and pulled-out chairs better than most imported alternatives.
Oak Parquet
Grain as the Feature
Parquet-style oak tops show more grain variation piece to piece than flat-sawn timber, therefore no two Grand Velino or Velino tables read quite the same in person.
Before You Order
What Solid Timber Deals With Every Week
- Hot dishes straight from the oven: A sealed timber top resists heat far better than an unsealed one, so check whether the finish is a hard lacquer or an oil wax before setting anything hot directly on the surface.
- Seasonal gaps at the joints: A small gap that opens in a dry winter and closes again in humid summer is normal timber movement, not a fault, since the wood is doing exactly what solid timber does.
- Scratches from cutlery and plates: Harder species like marri and acacia shrug off everyday scuffs that would mark a softer pine top within months.
- Sun exposure over years: Direct sunlight through a north-facing window fades and dries timber unevenly, therefore rotating a table runner occasionally prevents an obvious lighter patch from forming.

Getting a Solid Timber Slab Home Safely
A solid timber tabletop weighs more than a veneer equivalent, so Shopica reinforces packaging at the Sydney warehouse before dispatch. Every order ships with tracking. Metro deliveries typically arrive within three to seven business days, whereas Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and the Gold Coast take longer given the added distance. Full terms sit in Shopica's shipping policy and returns policy. For help choosing between acacia, marri and oak parquet, contact the team Monday to Friday.

WHY SHOPICA?
Quality You Can Trust
Shopica is a Sydney-based, family-owned homeware, décor and furniture store founded by Eliane El Khoury. What started as a passion for beautiful, considered interiors has grown into a trusted destination for Australians who care about how their home looks and feels. We curate cushions, floor lamps, mirrors, bedside tables, dining tables, outdoor furniture and decorative pieces chosen specifically for Australian homes. Every piece is held to the same standard we would demand for our own. We do not stock products simply because they are popular. We stock them because they are well made, beautifully designed and worth every dollar.
Our Sydney-based team understands how Australian homes are lived in. The open plan living and dining spaces that define modern Australian architecture. The need for furniture that is beautiful on the weekend and durable through the week. The importance of getting the details right, from the cushion on the sofa to the lamp beside the bed. We source every product with all of this in mind.
With Australia-wide delivery and orders dispatched within 1-3 business days from our warehouse in Sydney and personal customer support from a team that genuinely cares about your home, Shopica is here to help you create a space that feels as good as it looks. One considered piece at a time.
